Good Business
Born out of a strong need to create the type of organisation that could empower, fulfil and bring happiness to each of its members- both client and team, DAKS has always made the effort to raise the bar of what it means to be an Indian manufacturer. This idea over the years has only taken further hold as we have grown our programs of what we consider “Good Business” practices both deeper and wider- making for an organisation that is truly applying its beliefs in action.
Going over and above the government mandated spend of 2% profits towards “CSR” activities, DAKS India has pledged over 3X that amount to make sure that we always hold up our responsibilities to the community that supports the business we care deeply about.

Our Programs
Outlined below are some of our programs we have developed independently and in partnership with our customers. We are always looking to do more and would love to hear your ideas as to the further value we can drive in the development of people, community and our environment.
Worker Welfare
Work Environment
In 2001, we established the DAKS Evolution Centre to create customised training for our personnel revolving around Production Management, Developing Quality Control and initiated Management Development Programs.
In order to make our workers feel more comfortable about their voice being heard, over 20 suggestion boxes are placed through each factory including washrooms as a means for workers to anonymously talk about improvements they would want made in their workplace. More so the keys of these boxes are only held by our CEO as to make sure that all messages are sent through to him.
Initiated in 2009, DAKS provides an incentive program for the kids of workers who perform well in education, offering them both recognition in our annual day ceremony as well as scholarships to help their educations along.
From 3:50-4:00pm, all DAKS factories and offices power down and centre themselves with a mid-day meditation.
A happy work place environment makes all the difference! We always keep art on display on our production floors and make sure to keep the music pumping, to give our personnel a break from the repetitive work.
Our working mothers asked for a place in the factory for their young ones to spend the day. That led to the building of nursery- a definite favourite amongst our special projects!
In our on-site clinic, a doctor is always available to always help with any immediate problems or provide general consultations.
The All Faiths wall in our factory proudly displays our respect for and belief in the equality of all religions.
Environmental Sustainability
A need emphasised by the difficulties faced by our communities in the hot dry summer months, the importance of water is un-ignorable. Apart from rallying for protection of our rivers from New York to New Delhi, DAKS has also set up an in-house water harvesting plant to reduce the load on the environment.
Good business starts in-house. We are always looking to build further towards carbon neutrality, whether that be:
- 1. Switching our steam to be run by Pipe natural gas instead of diesel.
- 2. Use of Efficient LED lighting.
- 3. Implementing Turbo Exhaust Fans that work on air, without dependence on electricity.
- 4. Place Server Motors on all machines to save every little bit of electricity.
Whether it be transporting materials between factories and warehouses or even in sending out our shipments, we try to be conscious about the pressure the textile industry places on limited fuels.
- 1. Rather than move goods by truck, wherever possible, we opt to use trains. Not only is a train able to more efficiently pull a truck load but also maintenance of rail tracks is far cheaper than highways.
- 2. Rather than rely on commercial trucks using petrol, we have deployed our own fleet of CNG trucks.
With the program’s inception in 2015, DAKS has committed to planting 1000 trees a year.
Over 5000 trees strong 🙂
